Description
This course explores the major theories and contemporary empirical research in the areas of learning and memory within an educational context. Topics to be discussed within knowledge acquisition and retention include the role of active engagement, memory consolidation, attention, forgetting, and working memory. The course examines how our brain learns and the importance of reconciling education with neuroscience. Emphasis will be given to applying scientific research to educational pedagogy.
